Common Questions

Are you unsure what is the right training method for you and your pet? Hopefully these frequently asked questions will give you the information that you need to better understand the world of pet training.

  • For first-time owners or owners of dogs under 1 year of age, I recommend the Puppy Manners, it helps answer some questions as well as teach some manners to the young juvenile dog.

  • If your dog is over 1 year or you are somewhat experienced, Basic Obedience is the best bet as it helps to refresh you on the commands and the dog has a bit less "puppy" energy and can focus better.

  • If you have more than 1 dog and they're not getting along, the Multi-Dog Training is recommended.

  • If there is a specific behavior or question needing to be answered. A Private Session is recommended.

  • Still Not Sure? How about an E-Mail Consult! Send a quick e-mail and get a response back fast to help you choose the right training for you and your dog!

Currently Wagging Tales brings training to you at your own home! There is no permanent location at this moment. Hours of operation are based on appointment only. â€‹

If training is cancelled by the owner within 30 days of the initial payment, Wagging Tales Dog Training will refund 70% of the original paid price in the currency form easiest for the trainer. The remaining 30% will be retained to cover equipment cost, travel expense and time.

The $65.00 assessment fee is non-refundable.

Not Yet! This is in the works, but currently, we do not sell any equipment.

No dog is ever too old to be trained. There are obstacles, some dogs don't want to learn something new, but just like humans, learning something new can help keep their brains sharp and create a new way to bond with them.

What is your approach to pet training?

I offer Fear-free training as well as positive reinforcement training. All of my techniques have an emphasis on leadership within the household and pack. I will use tools such as training collars if necessary as well as using my voice, my hands and my facial expressions as cues for a dog to follow. I do treat train, though I try to focus instead on positive vocal cues such as "Good Boy!" and "Yes!", but will use treats as well.

My dog has a lot of health issues, can they still be trained?

They can still be trained! We can offer a pace that is slower and more forgiving on a pet that may have issues with the standard pace of training! If there are dietary concerns? Not an issue! We can use approved treats or use a toy as a reward instead! Mobility concerns? No problem! We'll go slow and take it an easy pace! Medication issues? Don't worry! The trainer is experienced in many different dogs with different health issues!

I have multiple dogs, will you train all of them?

We can train multiple dogs to live together. The current limit for a multi-dog household is three dogs. The pricing is listed on my Pricing page located at the top of the webpage!

Not yet! We do not do training for competitions, but it is in the future works!

We have experience working with several types of breeds! From Great Dane to Yorkies! While each breed may have their own unique traits, we can handle them all! Sporting to working class to couch potatoes, all are welcome!

This can be further discussed in an email consult, but the answer is "possibly". Depending on the situation and the "Why" of the aggressive behavior. This is also why the Assessment is required. There may be ways around the aggression that is safe for you and the trainer.
